Lynn Pistacchio is the LivingAfterWLS Chief Ambassador. She brings to LivingAfterWLS a generous spirit of kindness and giving along with her personal expeirence as a gastric banding patient. Her effervescent smile and calm manner are embraced by those around her. As Chief Ambassador Lynn's job is to work as a liason sharing the philosopies and core values of empowerment, personal responsability and kind caring support of each and every Neighbor. I am a "Bandit!" With the wonderful help of Dr. William Neal and his very supportive staff in Olympia, WA, I became a "Bandit" on August 8, 2007.

I grew up a small town girl on the prairie of Montana. As the 5th of 6th children, I am the sister who took after her Father's Norwegian/Irish/German family. As the blooming years came upon me, struggling with my weight became a way of life. Add to that a negative and shy self-image and it's no wonder I struggled with my weight. Like so many others, I took the path of yo-yo dieting.

The saving grace for my mind and body was having a very physical job as a hairdresser. Not only could I transform other people, but also I was able to help maintain a level of therapeutic sanity for myself with the added benefit of exercise. Two of my strongest skill are that I am really good at seeing and understanding the "whole" person.

As I entered into early perimenopause (a family trait), it became a loosing battle. My weight struggle was causing me to develop a variety of problems. I finally decided it was time to stop and take care of myself. I put on my oxygen so that I may help the next person put their oxygen on.

One week after my surgery, I found Kaye's LivingAfterWLS site. I was ever so grateful for the words of kindness, compassion, and non-judgmental knowledge that the Neighborhood provided me with those first two weeks. When I felt weak, I went to the Neighborhood and found the struggles that mirrored mine so much. It was a gift to me and I want to pay that gift forward. Not once did I ever walk alone. I want that same security for those people who follow us.
