Pants from the Gap. wub.gif All those cool Gap commercials were on TV and was just too fat to shop there. When I got to size 10 that's the first place I went and got my Gap pants. Now I have them packed away (size 14) but I know I will fit in them again.

My size 6 Renaissance Festival dress that my mommy made for me! Seriously, I put it on and cried because it fit... and I said right outloud... "Oh my God... I'm beautiful!" That was the first time I had EVER said that and meant it too. I still have that dress... but it doesn't fit. It may never again either because wow, was I skinny! lol I was at an unhealthy low of 135#. I prefer myself at about 150#. I dunno where the "in-good-focus" pictures are, but these'r on my computer, so I'll share them.

OH OH OH.... Late in the day we were about to walk out of the RenFest... and a little girl (about 5yrs old) came up to me and asked me, "Are you a REAL princess?" I told her yes and that SHE is one too... and her mom smiled softly and said to her, "See, I told you she was!" Her dad said, "And see? I told you YOU are!" Man that just touched my heart!

I had a pair of Roper jeans that I wore before I got married. They were bright red, and I looked GOOD in them!! I'm tall, so finding jeans that hit me "just right" is nearly impossible. Saved them for when I could "fit into them again..." Tried them on the other day - THEY WERE TOO BIG!

Talk about being depressed and happy all at the same time! LOL

I had not been in a bathing suit in probably 20 years. My grandchildren (one of which is 13) had never seen me in the pool. My 2 daughters, ages 31 & 28 couldn't remember me in the water or a bathing suit. The best feeling of all, though, was when my 13 year old granddaughter swam over to me and was able to put her arms around me and give me a hug. That was a real WOW moment!!! cool0012.gif

So mine isn't actually a piece of clothing per se but...

I work out with a trainer in a small group at this athletic facility. One of the exercises requires us to wear a belt of sorts around our waist that is hooked to a wall w/ a thick elastic rope, run away from the wall and slowly walk back, working on our legs. Well I haven't ever been able to get that stupid belt thing past my knees much less on my hips.

Today it slipped up over the hips with room to spare!!! The best feeling ever considering the class is full of skinny girls, it was always SSOO embarassing to have to skip that exercise. Not anymore!

[attachment=1187:Kathy_Ma...04_May05.JPG] cool0012.gif I have a short tan skirt that I only wore once & have not been able to wear since I was in 9th grade, (20+ years ago) For some reason, I never got rid of it. Well I'm aLMOST back in it and looking forward to an evening out without the kids wearing it for my hubby.

I'll be 5 years out on 1/30/09 and while I've had a few ups and downs in the pounds, I'm still happy and working at it. I am so thankful I found this site.

What a great Fun Friday and so many excellent answers already!!! Way to go Neighbors!

Where are the guys? Our rebels without a cause??? MOUJ? Stu? PapaJohn? Steamer? Patrick? Damon????? Come on, don't tell us clothes is just a *girl thing*!

My "dying to wear" item is a red suede skirt that I wore at my ideal weight. I LOVE that skirt and it was one of those things like Jane related, when I put it on I was gobstruck by my own loverliness. There is no way to express that without sounding totally vain, but it wasn't vain. It was the first moment when I came to like and appreciate this body I had spent so many years loathing. Anyway, I have a little too much junk in the trunk right now to wear this skirt, but I'm doing the stairs and the treadmill and every step of the way I imagine zipping that skirt up and checking out my rear-view in the mirror. I will be there again - I promise.

Let's keep these stories coming! I am so inspired!

My "dying to wear" item is a black dress I wore to a Christmas Party 22 years ago I still have it and can remember how good I felt wearing it - It is hanging in my closet just waiting for me to reach my goal. I am still a work in progress but this site has energized me and it really helps reading all the posts everyday.

Hi, I just got my band 4 days ago but I am already thinking about what I want to fit back into. I have a purple and pink bikini that I wore back in 1990 and I thought I was too heavy for it then. That was 100 pounds ago. Now I would like to at least be able to fit into it again. It is a little out of style so I doubt I would wear it in public. Plus I have to see how forgiving my skin is going to be to me.

Swim suit and shorts - in public. I've attained the shorts goal, though I'm not 100% comfortable with it yet. I'll continue to work on it - next summer, not right now!!! Right now, I dress more like the kitty below. smile.gif . I haven't done the swim suit yet, I'm working up to it.

I do not know if I can name just one thing.....OK.

You all might find this funny..

I love being able to go to Victoria Secrets and buy a under wire bra and underwear. I was huge in the chest 58 DDDD I always had to special order my bra's. They cost $55-60 a pop.
When ever I went into V.S. and saw I was able to wear an average size and a under wire. I cried in the dressing room. The sale clerk came in to check on me. I spent $100.00 that day on undergarments.

I have to mention this I also could not wait to be able to get calf high black boots. I loved it when they finally fit over my calf!

I love this place...never a boring moment. I love to read all the stories.

mine was/is and always will the dress that I wore to get married in just a month and half ago. My first wedding in 1995 I wore a VERY tight ivory wedding gown in a sz 22 (thats the biggest size the store had)...When I got married last month I wore a sexy form fitting BLACK sz 8! When I tried it on at the store I was floored. I kept trying on other things then going back to trying on that dress. I could not believe that I looked SO HOT in a dress!!!! I own a few skirts but never a dress! LOLSorry I dont know how to shrink pics!!

Hi, long time no post! I am fine really been melting since Christmas! Can't believe that I lost 6 lbs over Christmas!

My one big ah ha moment with "closet stuff" was while my m-i-l and s-i-l were here. We were going to a craft fair in the fall and jeans would be the appropriate atire but I didn't have any. My husband said, "I'm sure you can wear some of your old jeans by now. Did you save any?" Well, I dug in my closet and found one pair I had saved....for years! I put them on and they folded over from hip bone to hip bone! I ran crying to the spare bedroom and threw open the door and said, "Look at me!" Then I realized I hadn't put on a top yet so I had all my excess skin haning out, wearing my bra and way too big jeans!!! My sister-in-law went ripping through her mom's suitcase and tossed me a pair of 22 jeans to put on, they didn't fit all the way but they came so very close!!! I am now lighter than I was 30 yrs ago so there isn't anything left from my skinny days....shoot, I never had skinny days! I weight 9 lbs at birth and never looked back! I'm a life long overweight person...I weighed 103 in third grade.

Jeanne
at the start I was 390.2 on May 20 2008/ now 238.2 on January 23, 2009

I would love to wear one of those sexy black leather shiny skintight outfits that Trinity from The Matrix wore with a pair of high heeled sexy high boots. I'd love to wear any boot that would fit over my calves. I have hope! I know someday I will!!
