i had no idea i had become such a grazer. not even 5pm on day 1 of my 5dpt and i am craving everything under the sun. i have this weeeeird headache that is so strange it is almost enjoyable (whaaat!?). i have pretty much realized i am used to having some sort of food within arms reach at all time. usually chocolate of some sort. a lot of it was usually good food, healthy, just all over the place. in small amounts... but within an hour i'd be eating more. i was eating , as i said, a LOT of chocolate, soy crisps, yogurt, popcorn, baked fries in the oven, ... not bad stuff... but certainly not focusing on protien and for SURE way way too often. i feel like eating a car right now! wow wow wow this has truly opened my eyeballs. i hope i can make it through the night, i am feeling SO tired, headachey, almost dizzy. i've had a can of cream of chicken soup today and also a total of 1.5 cups of the pumpkin/sausage soup. i am not HUNGRY in the least... but boy am i craving and just feeling achey and wanty. thinking bout that half of an orange idea
knowwhatimsayin???

Yeah sally thats what I was going to say, drink a shake... you sure don't want to get all weak and not eat enough... (or drink enough). I can't do this as it causes me to get shaky too and have a low blood sugar episode! yikes! Do you have them too?

QUOTE(melsreturn @ Feb 28 2009, 09:10 PM) Yeah sally thats what I was going to say, drink a shake... you sure don't want to get all weak and not eat enough... (or drink enough). I can't do this as it causes me to get shaky too and have a low blood sugar episode! yikes! Do you have them too? i'm not sure what i have. i think my body is just waaayyy too used to LOTS of carbs and lots of sugar over the past couple of years as i have really slacked off on proper post-op eating. (6 years post op) so i guess completely cutting them out in one day just gives me the shakes. i havent really focused on protein in a while and i think i was actually starting to have blood sugar issues. and ooh Melinda.. i have been on YOUR blog for the last few hours as i sipped a sugarfree iced soy latte at caribou coffee. (unbelievable the sf vanilla sat fine with me) i'm guessing i was so preoccupied with all your amazing blogs, ideas and stories i totally didnt notice if i had a stomach ache.. and it passed the time so now i can almost go to bed and be done with day 1!! i think i am your new #1 fan.

I don't know if you use any online programs to track your eating, but I recently started using www.FitDay.com, and posting it here daily. Makes all the difference in the world when you see the numbers looking back at you. Congrats on your decision to do the 5dpt, and for getting through day one.

day 5. i feel sooo good. it has been sooo amazing going into stores or gas stations without wanting to "get a little something" to snack on. i cant believe how much of a habit that was! if i went to the mall, in to pay for gas.. whatever, i was always looking for a little something. a dove bar.. a little bag of chips... something to just... i dont know... make me feel like crap! i've saved money, too!
another test was having a root canal on monday. i was on pain meds and antibiotics.. usually this stuff i MUST eat with saltines or something to sooth my stomach and make me " feel better". it was an excuse to eat "whatever" cause well, i was "sick"!... but i ate what was on the plan. and amazingly i was just fine. i think all that "sick food" is just stuff i grew up with and thought it made me feel better. something again to remind me that food is linked, with me anyways, as something to help and distract me of any sort of discomfort. instead of just dealing with whatever my problem is.
i know i've lost weight. (havent been on the scale in a while.. not ready yet) i feel less puffy, less tired, more clear-headed, my jeans are looser. my cravings are barely even there. i am sooo glad i have done this! i am a 5dpt believer. and this is after eating an entire pot of pumpkin sausage soup on day one... eating til i was FULL FULL FULL of anything allowed on day 1, and thinking i could never do this cause i was eating too much. i think eating through your carb cravings on day 1 is key. it doesnt matter.. cause by day 3 and 4 you are naturally off the carbs... cravings are gone.. and eating without needing to count cause you seem to be naturally at about that 1200-1400 calorie mark. and feeling satisfied with that.

Beth, I haven't responded because I know nothing about the 5dpt except what I've read, but I have really enjoyed reading your posts. Your great attitude and enthusiasm are contagious! You're doing great! Keep on posting!
