i'm not sure what i have. i think my body is just waaayyy too used to LOTS of carbs and lots of sugar over the past couple of years as i have really slacked off on proper post-op eating. (6 years post op) so i guess completely cutting them out in one day just gives me the shakes. i havent really focused on protein in a while and i think i was actually starting to have blood sugar issues.
and ooh Melinda.. i have been on YOUR blog for the last few hours as i sipped a sugarfree iced soy latte at caribou coffee. (unbelievable the sf vanilla sat fine with me) i'm guessing i was so preoccupied with all your amazing blogs, ideas and stories i totally didnt notice if i had a stomach ache.. and it passed the time so now i can almost go to bed and be done with day 1!!
i think i am your new #1 fan.

i had a decaf iced soy latte with sugarfree vanilla this morning and realized later that the soy milk was sweetened and it gave me cravings like crazy! sooo im going to stick with just plain ole decaf with half and half and a sweet n low. i cant believe how sensitive i am to anything sugary.
to answer one question, yes, i have been using thedailyplate.com and it is awesome seeing all im eating.
on that note, i have to go potty.
wish me luck today! (not with the potty, with day 2)

I started the 5dpt today. This is my 3rd attempt...tried Saturday and Sunday and I'm seriously determined to finish this time. I don't feel so HUNGRY today as I did Sat and Sun so hopefully this will work. Today, I've had 36oz of water, a RTD, a bowl of black bean soup, a Gladiator smoothie from Smoothie King, and a bowl of egg drop soup. I think I will have some sf pudding in awhile, finish my water, and probably a cup of hot green tea. Good luck to everyone and lets keep posting!

another test was having a root canal on monday. i was on pain meds and antibiotics.. usually this stuff i MUST eat with saltines or something to sooth my stomach and make me " feel better". it was an excuse to eat "whatever" cause well, i was "sick"!... but i ate what was on the plan. and amazingly i was just fine. i think all that "sick food" is just stuff i grew up with and thought it made me feel better. something again to remind me that food is linked, with me anyways, as something to help and distract me of any sort of discomfort. instead of just dealing with whatever my problem is.
i know i've lost weight. (havent been on the scale in a while.. not ready yet) i feel less puffy, less tired, more clear-headed, my jeans are looser. my cravings are barely even there. i am sooo glad i have done this! i am a 5dpt believer. and this is after eating an entire pot of pumpkin sausage soup on day one... eating til i was FULL FULL FULL of anything allowed on day 1, and thinking i could never do this cause i was eating too much. i think eating through your carb cravings on day 1 is key. it doesnt matter.. cause by day 3 and 4 you are naturally off the carbs... cravings are gone.. and eating without needing to count cause you seem to be naturally at about that 1200-1400 calorie mark. and feeling satisfied with that.

Meryl
Found this little blurb on 'Hope'
HOPE
HOPE OPENS DOORS WHERE DISPAIR CLOSES THEM
HOPE DISCOVERES WHAT CAN BE DONEINSTEAD OF GRUMBLING ABOUT WHAT CANNOT
HOPE DRAWS ITS OWN POWER FROM A DEEP TRUST IN GOD
HOPE LIGHTS A CANDLE INSTEAD OF CURSING THE DARKNESS
HOPE REGARDS PROBLEMS , SMALL OR LARGE, AS OPPORTUNITIES
HOPE CHERISHS NO ILLUSIONS, NOR DOES IT YIELD TO CYNICISM
HOPE SETS HIGH GOALS AND IS NOT FRUSTRATED BY REPEATED DIFFICULTIES OR SETBACKS'
HOPE PUSHES AHEAD WHEN IT WOULD BE EASY TO QUIT
HOPE PUTS UP WITH MODEST GAINS
REALIZING THAT THE LONGEST JOURNEY
STARTS WITH ONE STEP
HOPE LOOKS FOR GOOD IN PEOPLE
INSTEAD OF HARPING ON THE WORST.

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE."
I've regained 10 pounds to 185. This is unacceptable.
