Hello Neighbors!!!

You may have noticed my new signature ticker:

2009 is a big year for me. This summer is my ((gulp)) 25 year high school reunion and in September is my 10 year Arrivalversary. I want to be my best for these events. Lately I'm not particularly motivated by a weight ticker as my maintenance is pretty steady give or take a few pounds. But I have become a bit lazy when it comes to my cardio workouts - you know - hit and miss, nothing regular.

So my birthday is coming up in April and I've set myself a goal to treadmill 160 miles between now and then. Walk to my Birthday! I'm not going to count my outdoor walking because I don't get the burn from it like I do the treadmill. Yesterday I did 2 miles and today 3. I have 45 days left to walk the last 155 miles to my Birthday! And the reward? Strong toned legs and a new pair of shoes!! (A friend asked me, "What happens if you don't make it?" and I answered, "That is NOT an option.")

So join me in this personal fitness challenge or create your own!

Remember, we all do better when we have a challenge, a goal and a plan.
I will keep you posted of my progress.

Happy trails . . . . . sport-smiley-009.gif sport-smiley-009.gif sport-smiley-009.gif

Sounds like a good idea Kaye cool0012.gif Would like to take the challenge. For me, anything would be an improvement over what I had been doing for a long time(nothing). Have been trying to think of a plan. Will have to take baby steps and work my way up. I never went to any of my High School reunions. Never really interested me.I think it's great that you are going to yours. Keep me posted and I will keep you posted on how I am doing. I am one of those that has to be held accountable so I bet this challenge will work!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care. Kathy

This is a great idea Kaye, I KNOW it will work well for you. I've got a pedometer on my little cell phone, and I can't tell you how much it motivates me to see the 10K mark every day. That's a base line for me. On days when I have forgotten my phone and left it on the charger, I actually drive home again just so I can be sure all of my steps registered!

So, yeah, I'll join you. In fact the Sarge and I have a little challenge going right now. I will piggyback my challenge with her onto this one. Let's just say that by our b'days in July, we're going to be a lot faster on our feet! *wink*

Good one on ya, Kaye. Keep up the good work.

This seems like a really great idea and I'm gonna jump in here soon. But my first focus is getting through the 32nd Annual Mcguire's St. Patrick's Day Run-A 5K prediction run. When I've reached that goal, I'll need a new one and this challenge sounds like a good one!

I came to the edge of the abyss and stood there long, contemplating its darkness. I didn't find freedom until I stepped off into the unknown.

Arrival date: December 17, 2008
Highest weight: 309, January 1, 2008
Pre-surgery weight 292
Current weight 168 - Down 124 pounds! I've reached my surgeon's goal for me. My BMI is 24.8 - normal. Challenge now: manintnance

I've gotten so much inspiration from others progress pics I thought I'd add my own:

Sandi -- Did that come installed on your phone or is it a download. That sounds like a cool feature!

Papa John -- I'm excited for your 5K! The first 5K has been a big moment for many WLS posties and I'm sure you will tell the story in grand fashion!

Sareena & Kathy -- I say ANY challenge that works, keeps us motivated and moving is a winner! Hope you come up great challenges to share with us!

Happy Trails .....
