I'm inspired by Keri who wrote:

"...RUN MARATHONS, SCUBA dive, cycle, ski, jet ski, parasail....and today I went SKY DIVING!" sport-smiley-009.gif

I've made no secret of how I've been doing crazy things since my surgery. How about if we start a list of all the CRAZY things we've done since our surgeries? First, we need to define crazy. I suggest the following:

CRAZY: Something that is exciting or adventurous to you, that you would probably not have done prior to your weight loss.

With this in mind, what might be crazy to one might be routine to another. That's ok. You get to pick. See, what I'm really fishing for here is ideas. So, how about if we list the crazy activity, and then your name next to it. If one of your crazy things is listed you can just cut and paste and add your name if you like. At the end we can compile it all into one list. What do you say?

So, here's mine... cool0012.gif

ATV Trip in the Mountains: MeanOldUncleJeff
Camping and Hiking: MeanOldUncleJeff
Drove a Race Car: MeanOldUncleJeff
Go on a LOT more Roller Coasters: MeanOldUncleJeff
Snow Skiing: MeanOldUncleJeff

What a great topic! I love it! Thanks!

Took flying lessons and became a licensed pilot.
Dared to change my life and career 180 degrees to more reflect my priorities and who I truly am post-WLS.
Walked the 3-Day 60 mile Breast Cancer Walk. sport-smiley-009.gif
Dared to travel in some internal emotional jungles and cleared out (okay, brush hogged) my way through.
Rode a bike again since being a kid (I was terrified I'd fall and break my head open).
Accepted new roles that I never thought I'd be able to do much less succeed in.
Participated in organized competitive sports walking events.

Looking forward to adding to this list!

Great question, Jeff!

Crazy things... oh, I'm full of them. (or is it I'm full of it?) The last few years have been difficult, but here's my list:

Fun & crazy things I've done:

Decorated my computer room with orange & purple (even sprayed the monitor orange) in a Tigger theme, so I could celebrate my FUN side and keep an upbeat mood. Mom said I was immature.

Swam in Lake Michigan in early June (brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)Mom said I was crazy.

Lived on a boat for a few years (except during winter when it is way too cold). I was just married; Mom didn't care.

Went back to Culinary Arts school and explored my creative side. This was the first time I competed in competitions and just loved getting trophies! Mom was proud of me.

Took my Mom to Europe for 3 weeks for her birthday and had a ball!! Mom was deliriously happy!

Went on roller coaster rides, even though every fiber of my body is SCARED to death..

Threw a couple of major parties for friends and families... I LOVE cooking BIG and entertaining.

Went camping ALONE after my divorce for the first time in 13 years. Started out with a bear ripping my campground apart during the night. I was so scared I just wanted to go home. My brother was so sweet, he tore down my camp, and set it up on the OPPOSITE side of the forest. And then he lent me his 10 year old son to keep me company. What a guy!

And of course I like walking and hiking with the dogs, especially on the Ice Age Trail (southeast Wisconsin)

I'm sure there is more, but really, my weight HAS hampered my ability and courage to do a lot of the things I want to do. Plus, for many years I took care of my mother and couldn't leave her for very long.

I have SO many NEW goals. And so many ideas of fun things to do.... Now if I could just win the lottery so I could afford to do them all.......

Okay - now that I'm rereading your post... I probably did this all wrong. Sorry, but I get carried away..... but sometimes that is just SO MUCH FUN!!

Here here, there is a boat trip in Scotland where you take a teak paddleboat thru the locks and that would be great. Swimming in the great barrier reef! Visiting the Outback. Ireland, South America, lighthouses areound the states and the world. There is a bed and breakfast in Scotland that is an operating lighthouse that sounds so beautiful. Seeing a hurricane from a lighthouse. Going to Mardi Gras! Belguim. Do you get the idea that I would like to travel some?? action-smiley-066.gif

Regina -

Write both! I'd love to know what we've done and what we want to do. This topic really has been thought provoking for me since reading it. I'm compiling my list of things I want to do. I never really thought of it before. It feels as though the sky's the limit now!!

Wow...I live a sheltered life.

Crazy things I've done since WLS...
Learned to do Agility with my dog
Tackled the Conformation ring with my dogs
Walked/ran two 5k's...and was thrilled about it
Bought and wear thong underwear!!!
Went to Vegas and enjoyed a spa treatment which required me to get naked in front of women that I didn't know
Had buckets of plastic surgery
Formed an insane bond with a woman from Wyoming

Crazy things I'd like to get done:
Get on a rollercoaster
Fly to Wyoming for some sort of BBQ...
Go on a date!!!

Bah-ha-ha-ha!!! No guys even tripping on me. I think I've got a plastic bubble up around me that repels men.

Really and truly, I do have high standards and am not willing to kiss all of the frogs to find my prince. I just expect for him to find me. Ah well...the time will come and when it does, I'll be sure to post all of the details on my blog. Kaye keeps on trying to set me up with men in Wyoming. Nothing like a long distance relationship ;)

Hey, I found the man who was to be my husband when I was least expecting it. I firmly believe that love finds you when the time is right. Your time will come.
I do think you need to look around more often though, open those pretty eyes, you MUST be missing the stares! tongue0011.gif
Either that or listen to Kaye and go to Wyoming where the guys appreciate a lovely confident, outspoken woman! :P

Kim must have forgotten the time since surgery where she practically jumped a poor little boy who came to unplug her nasty john... That's pretty crazy.

I think I would win the competition for the least adventurous life since surgery but I fully intend to win the race eventually. I'm like the slow but steady tortoise.

What I'm doing (sorry if it ain't crazy but I'm trying):
running
golfing (friggin' crazy game, that)
took a group of teenagers to Italy for Spring Break
playing tennis with my 20 something sons 2x a week
letting people take photos of me
telling all my secrets to total strangers on a funny internet neighborhood...

I maybe would have done it, but I probably would have found a "good excuse" not to. But get this: I was DANCING IN THE STREETS OF ROME IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!! I felt so free, so light, so full of energy. I felt like my REAL SELF--THE ME I WAS BORN TO BE. It was amazing.

I haven't really done alot of things that I didn't do before because I was pretty daring even when I was way overweight. But since surgery I have:

Worn capri pants, something I always felt to fat to wear before.
Felt comfortable going to the beach for the first time in years.
Walked in a 5 K and plan to do many more.

Would like to do?
Ride in a hot air balloon.
TRAVEL TRAVEL TRAVEL
Climb my Mt. in Maine
RUN in a 5 K and actually come in before someone, anyone.
Renew my wedding vows someplace exotic wearing a sexy wedding gown.
Chase a grand child around someday.

ok - I have been giving this some thought.

Things I did before surgery
*went to Kenya for a month, lived in a tent in a cow pasture and made a movie - went on a kenyan safari
*went to Israel for a week
*took a couple of cruises
*swam with the stingrays in Grand Cayman
*climbed Dunn River Falls in Jamaica
*visited Mayan ruins in Mexico

things I have done (since surgery)
*Gave the green light to a couple of people to give my phone number to men I didn't know (got a boyfriend out of that one for a couple of months - ended sadly - but oh how wonderful while it lasted sad0049.gif )
*sky dive!!
*sent a thankyou card, with my phone number in it, to the jumpmaster (never would have done that before... cool-smiley-013.gif he he he... got a couple of dates out of that one...)

Things I still want to do when I get the $$ or the means (not always the same thing :D)
*parasail
*get married (never been...)
*get out of debt (so I can junp right back in after getting all beautified after plastic surgery ;) then get out of that debt)
*go to a nude beach (and look good because I've had the ps - or I might just go anyway cool-smiley-013.gif )
*visit the Louvre
*take a trip to Ireland
*swim with dolphins
*learn to dance
*be an inspiration to someone
*hike up a mountain (not Everest though... that would be a little too big..)
*buy a brand new Toyota truck!! (then get out of debt - again! he he he...I'm seeing a pattern here)

I'm sure there is more... I am having a hard time thinking of them at the moment
all I know is that I feel freer now than I ever have in my life! I feel as though I am middle aged and just starting to live!! nature-smiley-011.gif

rollorblade
kartwheel sp?
hang glide
anyone remember pogo balls? :P
go 4 wheeling in my Jeep....and be able to walk back when I get stuck!
go dancing at a club party0003.gif
go hiking sport-smiley-009.gif
wear a shirt that shows off my tummy tongue0011.gif
Dance on the bar at karaoke with my buds cool0012.gif
sit in plastic patio furniture...without fear
fit in restaraunt booths
shop in the little side of Fashion Bug
share clothes with my sister
go to the beach and wear a bathing suit without a skirt
h*ll, go to the beach and not want to be invisible!

pierce my bellybutton :P

Aaaaahhhhhh, dare to dream.....why doesnt life have a fast forward button? This stuff just can't come fast enough! I know...I'll get there in my own time right? It is great to look into the future and rrealize that I might actually get there!

You shall Ms Buffy_CT - you shall :D
It seems like only yesterday that I was a pre-op... these past two years sure have flown by! It seems that the older I get the quicker time flies..- the next time I turn around I may find myself an old lady... I hope I can look back and relish the memories of doing the wild and crazy things on my list - maybe even some that are not on the list as of yet...

Since it's safe here in our Neighborhood, I have a question that I've thought about but haven't wanted to ask....it seems to be a common thing others have done so here goes.

I love to walk and have tried to run but feel like a dork. I know it comes from my morbidly obese days when physically I was afraid I'd blow out my knees and break my legs plus my body shaking like an earthquake. I've tried to run but still feel like I look silly and afraid my body (I weigh 115) will give out. Anyone else that runs felt this way? I know I need to "Just Do It!" so I was wondering if anyone else has encountered these fears.

Thanks, Shannon

P.S. If I do end up running....add that to my list!!!
